Millefiori Perthshire Paperweights End Of Day Weight 2 3/4 Mint In Box 1999 Coa
An”End of Day ” Limited Edition Paperweight (PP19) from Perthshire Paperweights by Neil Drysdale with silhouette canes all set on a black background. Dated on the base with a Perthshire signature cane consisting a P and surrounded by the year of manufacture. It was limited to 300 pieces. This weight is No. Size 2 3/4 diameter. Comes with original box and a Certificate of Authenticity. Some of canes are decorated with animals and birds. A History of Perthshire and Neil Drysdale (the creator of the cane). Perthshire Paperweights was a glassworks set up in Crieff, Scotland, by Stuart Drysdale in 1968. Stuart had been the manager of Vasart Glass and continued as manager when that company became Strathearn Glass. He left Strathearn in 1968 to form a new glassworks which would only make high-quality paperweights. Stuart took with him John Deacons, Jack Allan and Peter McDougall from Strathearn Glass. Jack Allan, who had been Salvador Ysart’s last apprentice at Vasart Glass, was the master glassmaker; and the company recruited and trained a skilled local team who did indeed make consistently high quality paperweights. Drysdale’s ambition was to make the highest quality of paperweights to rival the best 19th century French paperweights. There is no doubt the the quality acheived at Perthshire Paperweights was superb. Unfortunately Stuart Drysdale died in 1990 and his son Neil, who took over the business, died just over ten years later in 2001. Perthshire Paperweights closed down in early 2002. The tradition of making superb paperweights was continued by John Deacons and Peter McDougall, who set up their own paperweight studios in Crieff. This is a legacy of art in the form of a paperweight. Thank you for looking. Perthshire Paperweight 1993F Gorgeous Bouquet Paperweight With Single Black Overlay and Elaborate Star Cut Base. Limited Edition from Their Yearly HIgh End Alphabet Series. It is approximately 3 inches in diameter. It is a gorgeous multi floral bouquet with a striking single overlay in black that Perthshire introduced in 1993. It is the only black overlay that Perthshire designed in its history of fine weights. There is one perfect top facet which is sized to totally magnify the pattern within. There are twelve side facets and a star cut base. At the bottom of the stem there can be found the identifying P cane for Perthshire. Condition of this paperweight is excellent. The edition size of this paperweight was to be 300, but only 199 were actually made. This paperweight comes with its original certificate of authenticity stating that this paperweight is number 84. Rosenfeld 1997 Snake paperweight [665]. This very beautiful weight contains a green snake with dark stripes and pink underside. Along with three small mauve flowers with leaves and a larger white flower and bud and dark. And a number of small rocks all sitting on a sandy desert ground also with an. Initial date cane at the edge of the ground. 3 1/4 – 2 13/16 inches. 1.9 1/2 lbs/ozs. This information is from the original Collectors Catalogue. Largely, we believe, they are Scottish, French and American and their values seem to vary hugely. So many are stunning! We are total paperweight amateurs (although learning more every day), so have copied, largely verbatim, the original Collector’s notes including his measurements. The Collector was knowledgeable and fastidious with his weights. All were stored in locked glass-fronted oak display cabinets, most have their original boxes, are catalogued impeccably and for many we have original invoices as well. We believe the weights we post are in excellent condition. He marked in his notes when this wasn? T the case and we have reproduced those comments on the description.
