While most paperweight historians and collectors agree that some of the most beautiful and celebrated paperweights ever made were made in Europe, the American makers, too made paperweights of interest and of equal beauty and skill. The NEGC mushroom is one such example. For this design there is no European sister – this is a wholly American design and very rare as well. In fact only about six examples of this paperweight are known to exist. The unusual design features a typical NEGC nosegay set at the center near the crown of the weight but makes it import is the mushroom which frames the bouquet. Looking down from above, one will observe that the nosegay hovers of a portal which extends clear to the base. The concentric rings of complex millefiori erupt from the base creating this wonderful mushroom with porthole center – a design which must have turned heads and which must have stuck those who first laid eyes on it speechless! 1987 STEVEN LUNDBERG Studios WHITE WATERLILY w LILY PADS PAPERWEIGHT 082615. This is an absolutely gorgeous Steven Lundberg Studios art glass paperweight that is dated 1987 with the # 082615. This features 2 beautiful white multi-leaf waterlilies with an orange and yellow center. The leaves are a multi-color of green. The base area is done in a very dark cobalt blue so that the flowers and leaves really are accentuated. This piece is a nice paperweight measuring about 3″ in diameter and stands about 2 1/2″ high. The paperweight is signed Steven Lundberg, Lundberg Studios, 1987,082615. It is in excellent condition and the colors are outstanding very vivid and lifelike. Has minor shelf wear on the base. Mike Hunter Twists Glass 2018 Concentric Millefiori Paperweight with Complex Canes, Florets, and Leaping Cat Silhouette. This wonderful paperweight is a close concentric design with five rows of complex millefiori and a central leaping cat silhouette cane. The cat cane is surrounded by a ring of black and white and lilac colored rods. There is also an additional outer ring of millefiori that forms the stave basket. One row of canes has six magnificent white flower canes alternating with twelve large complex canes. The design is set in a stave basket pulled to the bottom and has a translucent blue ground. It is signed on the base with an engraved signature “M Hunter Twists 18 1 of 1″ and Mike Hunter’s “MH” signature cane. It also has the Twists Glass clear plastic label.
