Wes Hunting Art Glass Vase Signed Substantial Piece and Stunning
This absolutely stunning museum quality art glass piece is breathtaking and really hard to describe in words. It’s made by the expert glass blower Wes Hunting, and is a substantial piece in size and weight! The skill it takes to make a piece like this takes years and only those with the best skills can execute in this manner. The multiple sheet of glass in blues, purples and pinks along with millefiori pieces have been layered over colored swirls of glass in blues, yellows, slight oranges, and the entire piece coated in clear glass, very similar to a paperweight. The sheer strength it took the artist to have in order to make this piece is impressive alone! I have take many pictures to try and capture the beauty of this piece, but as so often is the class with light refraction and color mixing, it just doesn’t do homage to how truly beautiful this piece is. It is signed by the artist on the bottom. 13″ Round x 5″ High. Wes Hunting is a very highly skilled and trained expert glass artist. While he studied at Kent State University in 1976 majoring in Painting, he worked the weekends at the historic Hale Farm and Village (a assembled village of historic homes that were moved into one area which is a tourist attraction, complete with people in period-dress working on the property, giving tours and explaining what life was like in the 1800’s). During this weekend job when someone walked off the job as a gaffer and Wes was asked (maybe told) to assist in the glass-shop. This led to his life-long love of the art of glass blowing and glass-work/creation. Between 1977 and 1979 he attended workshops with very prominent glass blowing experts including. Fritz Dreisbach, Dick Marquis, Steve Weinberg, Bert van Loo, Marvin Lipofsky, Dale Chihuly, Joel Myers, Bud Hurlstone. After this in 1980 he attended Penland School of Crafts to then travel in 1981 to Italy to study glass blowing there, with a focus on Venice and Murano. He then opened Hunting Glass Studio in the summer of 1982. After starting a family in 19 87 he moved to central Wisconsin where he works with his son Wesley in the glass studio. As an artist he has been know to state. There is no other material like glass. The colors are totally unique as they can be transparent or opalescent. The way light passes through colored glasses adds a third dimension that cannot be duplicated by any other material. (And I couldn’t agree more, as I absolutely love the artform of Glass, and it is my favorite). I have enjoyed this piece in my collection but it is time for me to downsize and look toward transitions in the future, as I realize no one stays young! I hope that this piece will find a good home with you as it’s a masterpiece. I’m always happy to answer any questions you may have and can supply additional photographs for serious inquiries only please. Thank you for looking!
