This is a very good condition WHITEFRIARS LARGE OWL paperweight which comes in its original silk lined box. This is a quite rare design from Whitefriars made only in the last two years before the factory closed. This example is dated 1979. The top dome and windows are unmarked. The base is very good (probably kept in original box) carrying its original factory sticker of ” PA 601 D/B”, see picture 2 above. Items are always well packaged and promptly despatched. The finely-worked, deep-pink flower – its petals set around a yellow & orange star stamen – is borne on four narrow, two-tone green leaves over a gold-flecked opaque turquoise ground. This is from the Beverly Schindler Collection. A large Red/White center Rose cane is set within an outer design of smaller millefiori canes including a second Rose cane, this one a Pink and Green. At first glance this might appear to be a concentric millefiori design; however ever close inspection reveals that the outer canes are formed into four C Scrolls, each with a cane within the C and with another larger cane set between each C. The paperweight is 2-1/2″ in diameter and has a nice high dome at 1-13/16″ high. Listed without a reserve is a nice Orient and Flume iridescent aurene paperweight that is signed by Libomir Richter. The etched decoration is a heron, dragonfly, and I assume bamboo. It is dated 1983 and numbered O14FER. It is also signed Orient and Flume on the bottom and retains the origional paper label. There is another white paper label with hand written numbers (see picture). The weight measures almost 3 inches across at the widest part and 2 1/8 inch wide from flat surface to flat surface.
