Satava Studio Art Glass Jellyfish Sculpture or Paperweight Description and Item Information Up for sale is this beautiful Satava studio art glass paperweight or sculpture. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This heavy piece has a nebulous jellyfish encased in glass. The colors display differently, depending on the lighting and background. It stands approximately 6 3/8 inches tall, with a maximum width of about 3 inches. Unpacked, this piece weighs 2 pounds 13.2 ounces. It would be a fine addition to a collection of American art glass. Identification This piece is marked beneath, as shown, Satava 02672-99. The Satava studio of Chico, California was founded by Richard Satava. Condition This piece displays well overall, but it is not in perfect condition, as found. To the flat base, there is a 5/16 inch diameter internal fracture or contact mark (please see Photo 5). To the lower side, at the basal edge, there is some chipping/flaking, as shown in Photo 4. Otherwise, there is light wear, with a fine, scattered scratch here or there. Terms of Sale 1. Here is a stunning and early Perthshire Millefiori Closepack paperweight with myriad of superb complex canes. It dates to 1973 and was made in a limited edition of 400 which was cloised at at 378. There is a date and signature cane hidden within as shown. There are around 200 canes in the weight give or take a few. Set against a purple ground, with polished pontil mark to the base. The canes around the edge stretch slightly downwards to form a kind of basket. This is a medium sized paperweight by Perthshire’s standards, as it is 2.75 diameter and it weighs 419 grammes. Excellent condition with no chips cracks fleabites or scratches. It depicts very detailed yellow flowers, green leaves and stems, set in clear crystal. It is in near mint condition in the original box w/ certificate of authenticity; there is 1 or 2 small rub marks on the bottom (barely visible and not photographing easily) by the 1985. This is a beautiful St Louis Crystal Blue Flower Trellis in latticinio basket paperweight. An arrangement of three blue clematis/flowers and green leaves, resting on a double-swirl white latticinio basket. Signature and date cane. Limited edition #8 of 150. It is in excellent condition. There are few small rub marks on the bottom, which are hard to see in the pictures. I will assume they are from when my grandma displayed the paperweight. Mid 19thC French art glass paperweight, fairly confident it’s by St. Louis, they were known to use clusters of millifiore canes as flowers on leaves. On a double spiral bed. Polished pontil, good base wear ring. Surface has a couple issues, small chip on right side, and a small cluster of bruises on top right side, all pictured, think the close ups make them look worse than they really are.
