The PP129 is a large concentric millefiori paperweight that was made as a limited edition in 1990 only. The design consists of a large close pack center cane cluster surrounded by six large complex canes alternated with short twists. This is enclosed by another ring of both small and large canes, and then a final ring of medium sized canes in an alternating four and one pattern. The PP129 was made in both an and faceted and unfaceted version. This is an example of the faceted version, having a large concave top facet and six smaller concave side facets. The faceted version is designated as a PP129A. The base of this weight was fire polished and then ground concave in the center. The ground is a deep translucent purple. There is a’1990 P’ cane in the center of the base. The base is also engraved with the edition number, 106, out of a limit of 300 for all PP129s (both faceted and unfaceted). In addition to the signature cane, there is an original Perthshire paper label affixed to the base. The weight is 3.0″ in diameter and 1.9″ tall, and is in perfect condition. The weight comes with the original presentation box and certificate, both of which are in near mint condition after thirty years. Perthshire was founded in 1968 by Stuart Drysdale, then General Manager of Strathearn Glass. His intent was to produce high quality paperweights in the classic French Style. Perthshire Paperweights did just that until the factory closed in 2002.
