This piece is signed Simpson 7-62-07. A very unique Simpson paperweight. I love the stark white filaments that have a pearlescent hint to them. A single pink satellite twist hovers over the top. I’ve taken photos in natural, sunlight and the last one is on a lighted base. You can see the strand of bubbles shining. Near perfect- no nicks, chips, flea bites, scratches etc. I did zoom in and a couple of pics have marks that look like scratches- I promise they are only reflections maybe a small fleck of lint from cleaning rag. Measures 3″ x 3″. I try to describe each item honestly and accurately, including minor imperfections. However, I do not claim to be an expert and there may be times when a small flaw is overlooked. STUNNING Antique Millville FOOTED BLUE FLOWER Art Glass Paperweight. It has a Controled Bubble in the center of the Flower. This Art Glass Paperweight is from the late William Gaskills Cherished Collection. Gaskill was a former President of the National Paperweight Collectors Association (PCA) and an avid and very astute Art Glass Paperweight Collector. After His passing, his collection was on loan (for approximately 3 years from 2006 to 2009) to the Museum of American Glass (Wheaton Village) in Millville, NJ, which is now known as Wheaton Village Arts and Cultural Center. Gaskills highly regarded and very extensive Art Glass Paperweight Collection was on display in their most prominent area of the Museum at that time. Just prior to being put on display at the Museum, Lawrence Selman of the Renown L. Selman was commissioned to do an appraisal of the entire collection. Selman is known worldwide for his expertise in the field of Art Glass Paperweights and in 2001, Selman was awarded the honor of being named by the Paperweight Collectors Association, one of the Top Ten People of the 20. Century to influence the paperweight art form. Gaskills collection was considered to be one of the largest gatherings of Antique American Art Glass Paperweights known to be in private hands. In 2009 a family member took possession of the entire collection and it went safely and quietly into storage for approximately 6 years, from 2009 to 2015. In 2016 I was very proud and honored to have had the opportunity to acquire a large portion of Mr. Gaskills Wonderful and Cherished Art Glass Paperweight Collection. Millville Glass Company /. Was know as one of the Largest Glass Makers in the Millville, NJ area (Circa 1880) and likewise the entire country. Southern New Jersey has been called “The Cradle of American Glass” for the same reason that it could be called The Cradle of American Asparagus Farming. There’s a lot of sand in the soil, and sand (silica) is what is melted to make glass. Many of the glass makers migrated to this area from Europe in and around the late 1790s thru the mid 1800s. There were so many in this area at the time, New England Glass, Sandwich, Boston, Gillinder, Pairpoint and Millville just to name a few. Glass factories have been here for over 200 years, but it wasn’t until the late 1960s that someone decided to call attention to it. That someone was Frank Wheaton Jr. Grandson of the founder of Wheaton Industries, one of the biggest companies in glassmaking. One of my hobbies is collecting Art Glass Paperweights. Fabulous Iridised Colin Heaney Tall Art Glass Vase – Australian Art Glass. We seldom see large pieces from this renown Australian glass artist. Obviously inspired by the ocean this tall hand blown fluted trumpet shape vase is decorated with swirling petrol blue and gold iridised tones. The top has an undulating rim, there are some applied cobalt blue glass trails that add to the oceans fluid movement effect. The base has a clear and amethyst glass foot of rising surf to complete the theme. The vase has retained the gold foil button sticker & is etched signed by Colin Heaney and dated 1992 on the smooth surface alongside the polished pontil. It is in excellent condition with no faults found; free of chips, cracks and scratches. Measures: 29cm tall, 15cm across is the opening and 10cm across the base. It has a clear glass on top and the bottom is a cobalt blue. There is a contemporary design with indented circles around the piece. Inside there are beautiful flowers in lovely shades – like a resin type of material.
