Very Special John Deacons Encased Triple Overlay Paperweight. A central mushroom of complex canes has been encased in three layers (white, pink and pale blue) of glass which has then been faceted. This has then been encased in a thick layer of clear glass that has also been faceted. There is a signature cane in the base -‘JHD 2013′ with two thistles. Width – 3 1/2 inches. Description: Rare commissioned design from Perthshire Paperweights, based on a facetted version of the PP2 design, with the Crieff Gas-Light Company logo in the middle. From 1949 the company was part of Scottish Gas, which became part of the British Gas Corporation in 1973. The paperweight may mark that event, but there is no record of why this design was made, nor how many were issued. Top facet and five side facets. Concave polished base with maker’s label.
