Antique Baccarat millefiori on muslin paperweight: 74 mm / 2 7/8 inch diameter. 11 silhouettes; signed and dated B1847. Description: Lovely example of an antique Baccarat paperweight made by the famous French makers in 1847 in heavy lead crystal. This is their’millefiori on muslin’ design, with complex millefiori canes and a good selection of silhouettes set on tumbled latticino. The silhouette canes are: pink moth; monkey; horse; goat; love birds; dog; cockerel on white; elephant; red devil; cockerel on blue; geen moth. There is also a’B1847′ signature and date cane. This example includes a variety of coloured sections of tube and twist. Concave polished base with wear rim. Size : diameter 2 7/8 inch / 74 mm; height 2 inch / 51 mm. C ondition : very good; no chips, bruises, or scratches; slight flake at side of wear rim – 3 o’clock in base image.. Larger Than Normal Paul Ysart High Dome 10 Spoke Closepack Millefiori Art Glass Paperweight From The Monart Period Of 1930s. These Very Early Weights Are Now Becoming Extremely Difficult To Source. Main Design Consists Of A Cluster Of Complex Millefiori Canes Which Are Surrounded By 10 Orange & Yellow Latticinio Twists, In Between Which There Are Purple Yellow & White Centred Complex Millefiori Canes Separating The Main Twists. Finally The Whole Design Is Finished Of On Translucent Light Blue Ground, This Is A Rather Rare Version Of The Blue Ground, Making This A Very Desirable Item For Collection. As Is Usual On These Early Weights The Sharp Pontil Is Removed Using A Simple Icepick Leaving The Unique Markings. Measurements :- Diameter 87mm / Height 60mm.
