Orient & Flume Crystal Cased GoldenEgg with Irises. Paperweight etch-signed on base by Ed Alexander with original Orient and Flume Chico, California Paper Identifying Label. It is a limited edition 232/250 although it is unclear if the edition was completed. Each flower is perfect, a gorgeous deep purple/redcolor with contrasting yellow stamens as Irises have.. The delicate stamens and veining in the flowers and leaves shows masterful glass artistry. The design is resting upon a unique golden dappled background. Beneath the gold is another layer of creamy white for visual contrast. Both layers catch the light beautifully. This Iris pattern is unique to Ed Alexander, one of Orient and Flume’s premier glass artists. Etched on the base are Orient & Flume 232/250 Alexander and what I think reads D408P42FN11123SA. This weight measures approximately 3+ inches in height. The condition of this paperweight is excellent as from the factory, truly a prize to add to someones paperweight collection. Please note mention of a tiny tiny dimple made during the glass process in the glass on one of the leaves that was unable to be captured in a photo. This is a beautiful paperweight signed by Josh Simpson and dated 1991. I believe this is in the inhabited planet series. The previous owner put the three little plastic feet on to protect the base as can be seen in the last three pictures. I can find no flaws in the glass, my camera, however, seems to have found plenty of small dust particles. It measures about 3 inches in diameter. The pictures are essential to the description. There is a flaw where the arrow in the last picture points. It is really hard to see, even with directions it took me a bit. The picture is my best effort to show it.
