Just out of a local smoke free house is this. Rare vintage or antique set of miniature art glass paperweights. It is an interesting assortment of 48 lampwork paperweights in a fitted leather case. The paperweights have a metal fitting on their bottoms perhaps to retain them in the case or for use as tie tacks. The paperweights measure about 7mm for the smallest to about 16mm or about 9/16 inches for the largest. The vintage or antique display case is marked Wiss genuine leather and is fitted with a black terrycloth interior. The weights are in very good to excellent condition. The smallest weight has a chip on one side, the rest are in very good to excellent condition. The leather case shows some wear and damage near the brass latch. For your consideration is a wonderful, Josh Simpson, art glass paperweight. It measures 10 inches in circumference and stands just a little over 4 inches tall. There is a flower shaped cane satellite that is close to the top. Multi colored patches and shapes appear on the surface that look like large anemones and landforms. Multi sized bubbles add to the drama of this piece. Two patches of sparkling gold iridescence can also be seen. This paperweight is from Simpson’s “inhabited planet” series. It is one of the MOST FASCINATING creations I have ever listed. The piece is in good condition without cracks, scratches or chips. The flat bottom reads: Simpson. It is covered by the price tag presently. Its a fabulous planet and would be a wonderful addition to your signed art glass collection. 3 small acrylic pads have been applied by Simpson to the bottom to retard scratching. John Deacons 2003 millefiori overlaid paperweight [782]. This beautiful unusual weight contains a bouquet of flowers and buds on stems with leaves and a ladybird set on a latticinio cushion and with a millefiori overlay with windows and the initial date can in the base. 3 5/16 2 1/2. This information is from the original Collectors Catalogue. Largely, we believe, they are Scottish, French and American and their values seem to vary hugely. So many are stunning! We are total paperweight amateurs (although learning more every day), so have copied, largely verbatim, the original Collector’s notes including his measurements. The Collector was knowledgeable and fastidious with his weights. All were stored in locked glass-fronted oak display cabinets, most have their original boxes, are catalogued impeccably and for many we have original invoices as well. We believe the weights we post are in excellent condition. He marked in his notes when this wasn? T the case and we have reproduced those comments on the description.
