This is unique, one of a kind experimental paperweight made by second Polish artist in 2004. He started to experiment with millefiori paperweights inspired by works of Tomasz Gondek and 19th c. Silesian masters from Josephinenhutte, Carlsthal and Hoffnungsthal glassworks. Ignition to both artists works was given by paperweights exhibition in Karkonoskie Museum in Jelenia Gora, 2002 and the book Glass Paperweights. The Heritage of the 19th Century Riesengebirge and Isergebirge Glassworks. T hen t hey started their experiments during breaks, working in Julia Glassworks in Piechowice (former Fritz Heckert’s glassworks in Petersdorf). Shortly after he discontinued making paperweights and left glassworks changing his professional occupation. All his paperweights were kept hidden to the public for several years, and just couple years ago I discovered his works. For sale is a paperweight, manufactured by Peter McDougall. It measures a little under 2 7/8″(a little over 7cms) in diameter & a little over 2″(5.25cms) tall. The design features a central large lampworked sprig of pink flowers made from millefiori canes, sat on a white upset muslin base. The signature ” PMCD ” canes are inset into the base see pic. The paperweight is in great condition, with nothing more the odd light surface scratch/standing wear to the base. The original paper label is still in place to the undersidesee pic. It is believed that the paperweights available at this exhibition joined both science and art to spark the worlds future love for paperweights. A medal within this piece describes the exact purpose of this Crystal Palace 1851 paperweight. A MUST HAVE FOR CLICHY COLLECTORS. Reads “The Building for the International Exhibition” “A & M London 1851″. This is just not an readily available paperweight. The only ones recorded are part of private collections or established museums. Joseph Maës and Cristalleries de Clichy exhibited at Londons 1851 Crystal Palace, whereas the French glasshouses Baccarat and St. Our previous research suggests that sulphide paperweights with 1851 Crystal Palace medal motifs were manufactured by Clichy for the Exposition. We have not identified evidence that such paperweights were made or used as presentation pieces. Virtually all of these historical paperweights have been ground down at some point so this is probably no exception. Condition: Very nice condition. Neben den pastry mold-Canes und Clichy-Rosen sind vor allem die leuchtenden Farben ein Markenzeichen. Sie bieten hier auf einen wunderschönen, großen Chequer-Paperweight mit Millefiori-Canes und einer Clichy-Rose. 1845 und 1860 in. Der klassischen Periode der antiken Paperweights. Ein zentrales Millefiori-Cane wird umgeben von zwei konzentrischen Ringen aus 6 bzw. 11 weiteren komplexen Millefiori-Canes in leuchtenden Farben. Davon im inneren Ring eine pink-grüne Clichy-Rose vom Typ II. Hierbei wird der zentrale Stempel der Blüte von zwei konzentrischen Ringen aus gelben Staubgefäßen umgeben. Die insgesamt 18 unterschiedlichen Canes werden durch kurze Latticinio-Spiralen getrennt. Das gesamte Setup ruht Clichy-typisch auf einem Bett parallel gelegter Latticinio-Spiralen. Alles umfangen von farblosem, schwerem Glas. Der Boden ist konkav und feuerpoliert, mit Standring. Ein Sahnestück in nicht aufpoliertem Original-Zustand!
