Fabulous ORIENT and FLUME GORILLA PAPERWEIGHT Blue Aurene 3.5, Signed w Tag
For your consideration is a charming Orient and Flume gorilla paperweight. It stands approximately 3 1/2 inches tall and is almost 3 3/4 inches long. The bottom has the original Orient and Flume label along with felt pads to retard scratching on furniture. It is signed Orient and Flume and numbered S0207RB. The gorilla has a deep blue-green aurene finish. In certain lights hues of gold, green, blue and purple can be seen. His eyes turn green at times. (see close ups of photos) This is without chips, scratches or cracks. The paperweight no longer comes with its original box. Its in wonderful condition and It would make a great gift for a collector. A stem of two bright yellow roses and one bud is set on a white lace ground in this pretty Perthshire 1998E weight from Perthshire. A garland of fancy blue and white complex canes encircles the rose bouquet. The weight has one top facet and three rows of eight side facets each (total of twenty-four side facets) and is 2-3/4″ in diameter and 2-1/4″ high. It is signed with the edition number on the bottom. Rare antique Baccarat flat bouquet faceted paperweight. Rare antique Baccarat flat bouquet faceted paperweight, with a dazzling and rare floral group. A large central white buttercup forms the center, with a bundle of yellow star rods making up the stamen. It is flanked by two Type-I pansies, with shaded purple upper petals and a trio of cobalt blue and white arrowhead cane lower petals. The bouquet is crowned by a white double clematis, with a star cane center. A light green vine bearing a blue bud and green leaves entwines the central dark green stem. Six and one faceting. A broken stem below the clematis. In contrast to the work of the other French factories, Baccarat produced conspicuously formal floral arrangements. These masterfully portrayed flowers combine to form a delightful garden. The millefiori cane sections that compose the bottom of the pansies indicate that this weight was produced in the early part of the classic period. -The Art of the Paperweight: Challenging Tradition.
