The design is encased in clear crystal, a new technique to O & F in the early 1980s. O&F glass is uniquely clear and shimmering. The strawberries are luscious looking as the closeup photos show. The cushion base is of a shimmering deep blue that sparkles when caught in the light. MOST UNUSUAL for this paperweight is its history. Ed Seaira made a Strawberries and Blossom paperweight in 1983 and then went on to make a similar limited edition series in 1984 that copied the design. The final photo in this listing shows the two weights together side by side. This limited edition weight available in this listing is from a production of 500. It is unclear however, how many were actually made before the series was closed. This listing is for this 1984 paperweight only. It has the unique O & F signature date cane of 1984. Etched on the base are Orient & Flume E. Seaira’s name is his specific etched icon denoting that this weight was handmade by him. This weight measures approximately 2 and 1/2+ inches across. The overall condition of this paperweight is excellent, truly a prize to add to someones paperweight collection.
