This Steuben Teardrop Heart gem is in scratch free new in box condition and has no scratches, no damage, no nicks or chips, and no display marks to the glass. It is correctly marked with the Steuben “S” on the edge of the tip of the heart the mark designed to be “there” but to be unobtrusive. This mouth blown heart with a teardrop at it’s core, is hand cut and faceted and hand polished like a jewel. This miniature artwork measures just over 2″ long by 2″ wide by about 1.5 high with the weight and clarity that Steuben was renown for. This will come packed in it’s fine vintage velvet lined fitted red leather box in excellent gift worthy condition. The price is fair for a Steuben “red box” masterwork in flawless condition. Over the years Steuben has made a number of different heart designs and this was one of their most expensive. This Teardrop Heart was entirely hand made in the USA. Steuben Glass was the premier American glass company founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It ranked as the world’s foremost artisan glass house. Hand formed by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY, it was frequently the United States’ gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no “seconds, ” items that did not meet their exacting standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben, a recognized luxury brand and the ultimate in art glass.
