For your consideration: A stunning Studio Art Glass Paperweight by Rick Satava, handblown in the shape of a colorful jellyfish. The colors of the jellyfish vary depending on lighting conditions (brown / golden in full sunglight, more green / blue with a darker background or with a lighted base). Hallmarks: Signed Satava 1571-10 on the base Dimensions: The paperweight is approximately 5″ tall and 2 1/2″ wide at the top PLEASE READ NOTE ON CONDITION CAREFULLY Condition: The paperweight is only in fair condition : it appears an object was dragged across a small area of the surface (on one side) and left some visible scratches. The scratches are not deep, but they are visible up close (within 2 feet), depending on the lighting conditions (with a white / light background they are difficult to see, but they are slightly more visible with a darker background). Please look at the close-up pictures of the scratches carefully before making an offer. Additional pictures are available upon request. The artist : Rick Satava is a master glassblower from Chico, California, who creates incredibly lifelike jellyfish sculptures out of glass. His works are so realistic that people often wonder if theyre looking at real jellyfish preserved in glass. In the late 1980s, the artist was inspired after a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where he looked at pacific coast jellyfish as if he was viewing art inside a gallery. This got him thinking. He knew right then that he needed to capture the beauty of jellyfish in glass.
