This paperweight consists of sixteen large complex canes set into a cobalt ground. The central complex cane is red, white and green, and has a “E” signature cane as its center. This is surrounded by a ring of five complex canes, including a black and white complex cane with a green shamrock silhouette cane center, and a red and white complex cane with a black club silhouette cane center. Surrounding this is an outer ring of ten complex canes in various forms and colors. The weight is in perfect condition. The dome of this weight is very shallow, and the cobalt ground has nearly the same curvature as the dome. This gives the weight an interesting optical property, allowing most of the sixteen complex canes to be seen from almost any viewing angle. This effect can seen in the side view, where twelve of the sixteen canes can be seen. The weight is 2.8″ in diameter and 1.9″ tall. The base is polished flat and scratch signed “Ebelhare 2.98″. The three silicone feet, or “bump-ons”, on the base were installed sometime before we acquired the weight in March of 1998, but can be easily removed without damaging the weight in any way. Drew Ebelhare is a Texas glass artist who lives and works in CaƱon City, Colorado. He began working with hot glass in 1981 and started producing paperweights seriously in about 1990.
