David Graeber pink hydrangea glass paperweight This 2018 weight is bursting with color. Included is a very detailed pink hydrangea blossom and two yellow flowers. Three realistic blueberries add a contrasting hue. Four small lemons, two sliced open to reveal the inside add the finishing touch. David Graeber has worked for Paul Stankard for almost twenty years as his studio assistant. A few years ago Paul encouraged David and his other assistants to develop their own designs which were signed Stankard Studios and with the artists name. Recently Stankard cut his work week to three days a week, giving David Graeber three days a week to make his own designs. Being offered is this Vintage Signed Lundberg Studios Daniel Salazar 2 White Cranes with Iris Art Glass Magnum Paperweight. This magnum weight from 1993 is one of Lundberg’s best! It features five layers of design with two large cranes flying over blue irises. The weight is signed in script, Daniel Salazar 092713 Lundberg Studios 1993. This is made by Famous Artist Daniel Salazar. Approximately 3.5 tall, 4.5 wide. Approximately weight 4.4 pounds. It is in excellent Condition, as shown in Pictures. Lundberg Studios James Lundberg (9/15/48-2/28/92), having been trained in ceramics, studied glassblowing at California State University in the late 1960s. David Salazar and several other artists joined him in this new endeavour, becoming the first California studio to make glass in the art nouveau style. Steven Scott Lundberg, (12/29/53-4/12/08) fresh out of high school, soon joined his older brother as an apprentice in this new glassworks, known at the time as Nouveau Glass. In August 1973 they moved the glassworks to the small coastal town of Davenport, officially becoming Lundberg Studios. Steve left Lundberg Studios in January, 1997 to open his own studio, Contemporary Art Glass. A number of recognized glass artists including, David Salazar, Jim Shaw and Chris Buzzini, have worked at Lundberg Studios at some time during its history. Lundbergs first paperweights were made in 1972. They originally made surface decorated designs, then about 1980 they pioneered the torchwork technique for clear glass weights. Paperpooba Collectibles and More! Oregon glass artist, Chris Buzzini began using his lampworking skills on botanical materials in paperweights in 1983. These deep blue asters are certainly a true sign of his artistry and the very clear glass surrounding sets the aster and leaf lampworking off beautifully. He signs his pieces in script on the side of the paper weight as he has on this one dated 1999. Buzzini began working with glass in 1970 and has been working as an independent studio artist since 1986. He has expertise in various glassworking techniques, including flameworking, torch working, murrini making, and cold lamination. Buzzini has been an important contributor to Correia Art Glass, Lundberg Studios, and Orient & Flume Art Glass. His work has been included in many books on paperweights and is in the permanent collections of several museums. The paperweight measures 3-3/8″ across x 2-5/32″ tall and is free of scuffs, cracks, nicks and bruises. Absolutely beautiful in person. Perthshire colorful close concentric millefiori paperweight Scotland. A nice close concentric millefiori motif, which is a bit unusual for this maker.. This has six rows of cog and crimp canes, each cane with a contrasting colored center. On the base is the original paper label. Most Perthshire weights are signed with a P cane, this one being the the outside row of canes, as seen in the closeup photo. This weight is from Perthshire, a company no longer in business. It closed on January 25, 2002. For over thirty years this Scottish glassworks was one of the most famous makers of fine glass paperweights. For your consideration is a wonderful, Josh Simpson, art glass paperweight. It measures 3 inches in diameter and stands just a little over 2 3/4 inches tall. There is a flower shaped cane satellite that is close to the top and also a tethered communication station. Multi colored patches and shapes appear on the surface that look like large anemones and landforms. Multi sized bubbles add to the drama of this piece. Two patches of sparkling gold iridescence can also be seen. This paperweight is from Simpson’s “inhabited planet” series. It is one of the MOST FASCINATING creations I have ever listed. The piece is in good condition without cracks, scratches or chips. The flat bottom reads: Simpson, 1991 , 5-225. Its a fabulous planet and would be a wonderful addition to your signed art glass collection. 3 small acrylic pads have been applied to the bottom to retard scratching. This is an excellent example of one of Baccarats richest millefiori weights from the classic period. Paul Ysart paperweight: 74 mm / 2 15/16 inch diameter. Description: Large millefiori paperweight designed by Paul Ysart, most probably in the 1940s – 1950s. The millefiori canes (some of which are known, documented designs of his) are set on a dark blue ground. Slight tinge to the clear glass of the dome, which has a few small bubbles (see images).
