Vintage Eickholt With Everything Opalescent Paperweight. Literally most of his design aspects in one paperweight. This large Eickholt, about 6 tall and about 11 around, is stunning. It beings with a blue/black iridescent core which sparkles green, gold, oranges in the sun. Around that is a layer of opalescence with a large co trolled bubble and around the that are 7 more controlled bubbles. In design and in shine. And its rather unique. You can easily get one or two of these elements in one of this weights but to get a great many in one is special. Hopefully, the pictures speak for themselves! It is in mint condition. This paperweight quite possibly includes some of the most complex classic millefiori canes ever made. It is made in three sizes. The G12 is a small weight, nominally 2-1/8 diameter with about 24 canes. The G12A is a medium sized weight, nominally 2-1/2″ diameter with about 32 canes, and the G12B is a large weight, nominally 2-3/4″ diameter with about 38-40 canes. All three originally were made only on mottled pink grounds, however we asked Peter to make some on other color grounds and this one is on Black. THIS IS EVEN BIGGER, a G12C and has close to 100 canes. Peter McDougall, former Perthshire Factory Manager, continued with his innovative designs. This large close pack paperweight from Peter’s PMcD Studio in Crieff Scotland includes complex and detailed millefiori canes that rival–or SURPASS– the most complex canes found in even the best antique weights such as Baccarat, Clichy, and St. There are close to 100 individual canes that are set on a Black cushion. A STUNNING KARNIG DABANIAN STUDIO ART GLASS PAPERWEIGHT SCULPTURE SIGNED. Here is some information I have found on the web and thought I would share. Dabanian served in the US Air Force and attended Wayne State University, where he was a science major and received and engineering degree in 1948 with a minor in fine arts. He was a mathematical genius and held several engineering patents. Karnig was also a partner in the Poultry Glass Works, the first independent studio in Detroit. During the early 1960’s, the introduction of small furnaces inspired the studio glass movement because the artists who designed glass art could then create their own work. Karnig’s fascination with design and invention led him to the Toledo Museum of Art, where he attended glassblowing workshops taught by director Dominic Labino. After that, he maintained the longest operating studio producing silverveiled glass in Michigan. His pieces are know for the “floating veils, ” layers of reflective surfaces that intertwine and form a series of dancing patterns that appear suspended inside the glass. This artistry has been featured in many other exhibitions, including the University of Michigan-Dearborn Mardigan Library Glass Month Project. His art creations reflect and appreciation of science, art and modern ideas are found in many private, public and corporate collections. Measures 5 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
